                            IT'S ADVENTURE TIME.

This is your opportunity to plan and have your own unique adventure. An opportunity to spend time in nature, to boost your well-being and maybe to begin some rehabilitation after the stress of lock down.  We offer  adventure activities in wild Derbyshire woods for individuals, families and groups.

This is an opportunity to spend time outdoors. An opportunity for children to play and have fun. An opportunity for adults to play, to laugh and enjoy themselves.

We provide a variety of camps from two hour Birthday Parties and Barbecues , Forest Schools, half day campfire cooking or Bushcraft right up to a weekend camp or even longer.  Chat to us, tell us what you want and we can arrange it.

Wildwood Adventure Camps is run by Row Spencer and set in the beautiful Peak District. Row is a Forest School instructor, teacher and a 'Shinrin  yoku' Forest Bathing practitioner. He has years of experience and will assist you to have a special adventure experience.

Each adventure camp is different. The woods are beautiful. There are two sites that we use.

 DERBYSHIRE OUTDOORS, WIRKSWORTH.

This site is a mile from the centre of Wirksworth at DE44AJ. The site name is 'Derbyshire Outdoors' and is registered by Amber Valley District Council as a Forest School. Two fields, a stream and a wood.

A WC with access for wheelchairs, mains water and easy parking. Areas of the site are flat and usable for wheelchairs. The main barbecue and fire area are also accessible for wheelchair users. With care and assistance wheelchair users can access the stream. We want at some point in the future to have a 'changing place'. At the moment we do all we can to help those with additional needs.

There is also a friendly and inquisitive flock of sheep and lambs. Look out for sheep droppings. We have a no dogs policy. Dog faeces can cause abortion in sheep.

The site is secluded, peaceful and privateThere will only be your group and Row on site. We limit the number of vehicles to 4.

Four and a half acres of land. Private ground, two fields, a stream and a wood. Beautiful secluded places for picnics and barbeques. You can visit before you book and choose where you want to be. On the top field you are surrounded by trees with not a house in sight.

We have a gazebo with an awning, logs for seating and a table. There is a barbecueand  free fuel. You bring the food, camping chairs and whatever else you need.

              SHINING CLIFF WOODS.

Shining Cliff Woods are a SSSI, a site of special scientific interest. It is a 10 minute drive from Wirksworth. For backpackers, hikers and cyclists it's 3 miles from Wirksworth.

A huge 100 acre wood. It is not a campsite. It's a place to explore, enjoy and wild camp, no mains water or toilets.  We take water in containers and provide either a chemical toilet or dig a pit.  This site is wonderful , exciting and a magnificent natural resource.

Row has permission to take groups to these woods to wild camp. Booking permits have to be made in advance. Make your enquiries in plenty of time. There will only be your group using the fire pit and camping area. General public use the woods.

Activies in Shining Cliff are more adventurous than at Derbyshire Outdoors.

To get the most out of your stay see the range of things to do in the 'Prices and Parties' section.

The idea is to get away and do something very different. To have the opportunity to test your resilience, your creativity and go wild.

We try very hard to operate as sustainably as possible. Wirksworth is on a bus route. There are rail services nearby.

Hikers and cyclists are particularly welcome. Wildwood Adventure Camps offer a 10% discount to guests arriving on foot, bicycle or public transport.
